News from Yangon

On Sunday the 10 of December we have arrived here in Yangon. Adrien Rebord and myself Daniel Zygmunt are here to train 17 new Master Instructors for the duration of 3.5 months starting in early January. After completing this course, the Master Instructors will train supervisors in various partner hotels in 4 cities in the country who will then train learners from disadvantaged backgrounds in the areas of F&B service, Food Preparation, Housekeeping and Bell Service. This Hotel Training Initiative is part of the Vocational Skills Development Program (VSDP) implemented in Myanmar by Swisscontact (the Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation) since 2014 and financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Since then 3047 disadvantaged learners have already been successfully trained.

The Swisscontact Team has provided us with a very warm welcome and very good working conditions. We have started preparing all the lessons in detail. The Master Instructors are all experienced hotel professionals and the course shall enable them to prepare a well-structured course and train the content effectively.  We also have two previous Master Instructors on our side to assist us with this project. The experience of the two local gentlemen is obviously very helpful in tailoring our training towards the local Master Instructors. So far it has been very enjoyable to work with Kyaw Myo Than and Nyunt Wing. We can share all our experience and interesting stories with each other. We are already looking forward to meet our highly motivated participants at the beginning of January.

Bis bald, Daniel
